Payton Brusse and Rosie
Payton Brusse, from Portland, Oregon, is majoring in strategic communication and minoring in business administration.
Payton’s primary role revolves around writing and editing content within the project. This semester, she is most excited about branching out of her typical writing comfort zone, and learning how to intertwine multimedia within her role. While Payton loves being creative, her forte revolves around writing; this semester gives her the ability to combine the two of these.
Payton’s long term goals revolve around her career pathway, and she aspires to find work within public relations. Whether it be working as an event coordinator, or working for a public relations firm. Payton wants to have a career that either involves traveling, or allows her to travel. Last summer Payton went to Europe for the first time, and has wanted to go back ever since. Visiting London, Amsterdam, and the islands or Greece, Payton came to the realization of how much is truly out there. She was bit by the travel bug, and hasn’t been able to sit still since.
While traveling is very important to Payton, she also knows how crucial it is to get back to your roots. One thing that Payton would love to at some point in her life, is settle down and open up a boutique in Portland, Oregon.
When Payton was in 6th grade, her family adopted Titan, a vizsla and pitbull mix, and their lives have not been the same since. Whenever heading back to school, Payton’s hardest goodbye is always undoubtedly the family dog. Last winter, another pooch was brought into Payton’s life when her oldest sister adopted Rosie. Rosie endured many challenges through puppyhood, making the two’s bond even stronger. Despite all odds, Rosie has grown up and is healthy and living her best life.
Payton brings a positive and uplifting attitude to the team, and always communicates with those around her. Payton has an extensive background with photoshop, which she can use as a creative outlet to communicate the team’s ideas. Payton is easy to work with, and always makes sure that the job gets done

Mackenzie Szerlog and Sara
Mackenzie Szerlog was born is Seattle, Washington, but grew up in Kingston the majority of her life, riding ferry's and sailing on the water. She graduated from Washington State University with a bachelors degree in Strategic Communications with a focus in advertising, as well as a minor in Hospitality Business Management. She is excited to pursue a career in the hospitality realm with the hotel giant, Marriott. Mackenzie's role within the BOW-WOW family as the project manager has helped her gain some leadership and team work skills, and she loves that her group works like a well oiled machine and because of this, there is very little to do manger-wise. BOW-WOW was a thought of by Mackenzie but was made into a functional app with exciting and popular events associated with it, by her amazing team. She is excited to experience a full behind the scenes look at marketing and advertising, and especially creating, a business. She's very excited for the opportunity to do so with such a great topic as BOW-WOW as well.
Mackenzie's long-term goal is to be a higher-up at a hotel and is starting on completing that goal by joining the management training program within the Marriott company. Fingers crossed. She has always loved customer service and hospitality in general since she was in middle school. Ever since her first job as a cashier at food bank. She continued working in food and beverage as a hostess and server in a few restaurants in her home town, as well as accepting an internship at the Pioneer Square Marriott Courtyard in Seattle. That's where she caught the hotel bug, and fell in love with Marriott the second day she worked there.
Mackenzie has been in many leadership roles in the past-and present. Currently, she is the vice-president of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality, a prestigious hospitality club with chapters in many universities across the nation. She is also the most senior student manager at a cafe and market on campus. She always strives to work to and above the best of her abilities and to rise up the ranks, but not before really understanding the company she is working for in order to increase productivity effectively and efficiently, without disrupting anything. She makes sure to take in everyone opinions and comments into consideration in everything she does and tends to lead with a friendly and welcoming approach.
Mackenzie absolutely loves animals, especially her dog Sara who is her best friend and essentially a child to her. Mackenzie rescued her mutt about 9 years ago and cant imagine life without her. Mackenzie loves to advocate adopting instead of shopping when thinking about bringing a furry friend into the family, as these dogs need homes and they also usually end up being the most caring and loving dogs you can get. She encourages anyone thinking of adopting to look at their local animal shelters first, and to keep an open mind, you never know what kind of dog will walk into your life and change it forever! She is so excited to see where BOW-WOW will go and hopefully will meet a lot of four-legged and two-legged cuties along the way!
